Pinterest Challenge
So Pinterest has changed my life. Well, ok a little bit of an exaggeration but it's a favorite past time. Dreaming of all the desserts I'll make, the adorable seasonal projects I'll do, the furniture I'll turn all shabby chic. But at this point, it's simply dreaming. Thus, my challenge. I am going to do one Pinterest idea a week! I'm posting pictures and what worked and didn't work to keep myself honest. So here goes:
A couple of years back I read a book called, Julia Julia or was it Julie Julia? Anyway, it was the story of a modern day gal who took a one year challenge of making a dish from Julia Child's famous French cooking book. She blogged about it, almost lost her job and husband over it but in the end, she did it! She aquired many loyal followers and lots of funny experiences. I truly enjoyed the book and the movie too. That is my inspiration for my - ready for it - Pinterest Challenge -
I've spent the last couple of years in a love affair with Pinterest - what's not to like? The pretty pictures, the adorable crafts, the funny comics, and once in a while hot men with their shirts off. My friend Dana describes it as cyber hoarding - she's right you know. It's awesome to have all the wonderful ideas at your fingertips and organized into categories, but as I am a practical gal, I want to do something with them rather that just hoarding. I don't want my "Project for Some Day" board to get any more pins without doing something with all my other boards so I created this challenge for myself. One Project a Week till I'm 49 years old
Rules:
1. One project/recipe/idea to be tried each week.
2. I can actually do more than one a week.
3. Even if I only print out a cute label or something lame, it counts.
4. Take pictures and post the projects.
Ok, ready my loyal followers of none:

Week 1
Succulents in a letterGratitude
Gratitude and Patience - those are two things I pray for daily, hourly, minutely. I try to remember a time about a year ago to remind me to practice being grateful.
The boys and I were in Solana Beach - my favorite California beach! It is known for great waves and the bluff area always being sunny - after all, Solana means "sunny spot".
The boys were playing on the beach and I went for a walk toward the "rock pile" we call it. It's a area jutting out into the ocean at a point with rocks and shells. I told myself, "I'm going to find a sand dollar." I have never found a sand dollar on that beach or any other in fact in the great state of California. While I was intently looking for shells, I found some cool all black one, a mostly intact curled up one and some others. I finally decided to give up my quest for a sand dollar and stopped to just enjoy the beauty. God had created a gorgeous day - sound of the ocean, squacking of seagulls, and the roar of the waves. I thanked him for all that he had created and was filled with gratitude that my family was able to enjoy the precious coastline.
I started my walk back to our chairs to check on the boys and came across a perfect sand dollar. It was there gleaming on the sand, not a half dollar, but a perfectly round, perfectly perfect sand dollar. I am sure it was God reminding me that, when you are filled with gratitude, your wishes do come true.

Blank page oh blank page. This blog was created in 2009 and has been awaiting it's first post for three years now. I have had oh so many excuses, no time, boys bugging me, nothing important to write about, my desk is messy, my computer doesn't work, I need a new outfit. Oh, the list goes on so I gave myself a deadline and it's today so here's my post resenbling a Seinfield espisode about nothing and why I haven't written in this soon to be wonderful blog.
Here's to more regular writing - with no excuses!
